Within Consult i really like the sophisticated simplicity and experimentation in print. This is the type of design I would like to go into in the future.

I LOVE this work! Its Reluctant Hero, a graphic design company based in Newcastle. I really love their work to do with type and print! The combination of the imagery/photographs and layout is something i am definitely interested in and would like to work in!

Evaluation.
I have definitely learnt ALOT from this brief! At the beginning when given this brief I panicked as i had never heard or been on After Effects before. I also have to say a big thank you to Mike Flower who helped me a great deal, he was brilliant.
For my animation I wanted to use type, as it is becoming a big interest of mine. I started with various different ideas; my initial idea was to use kinetic type on top of photographs, then i thought about possibly animating the type and incorporating small pictures into. This then turned into mostly kinetic type with several images alongside the type, of which I am happy with. I do like what I have done but i know that it is not the smoothest or spot on animation or skills within After Effects, however i have learnt and applied the skills of which I learnt through this brief. I have also enjoyed learning these new skills and i do think these skills will help me personally and i feel i can adapt these skills to outside projects.
I do think i could have tried other ideas, looked more into different techniques, and ways of which I could have made the transitions in my kinetic type smoother. I would also like to now experiment with images, along with the cameras and the way in which you can pan around a big image.
Through this brief i have seen an improvement in my organisation as in uploading each ideas and development onto my blog, along with maybe bad ideas.
If i was to do this again i would definitely try and absorb as much information and techniques as I could, and look at several different ways of doing things as another way may be more effective. I also want to continue experimenting in After Effects as i did enjoy myself, and i can see ways in which I can apply this to other areas of my personal work.

Through looking into the kind of designer i want to be, having my own small photography business has made me realise my passion for photography alongside graphic design and print.
Therefore over summer I would like to look into maybe doing a placement with Simon Murray
